Pakistan has great potential to earn billions of dollars from exports of marble products, therefore, the government should address the issues faced by the sector to harness its potential, stated Moazzam Ghurki, President of Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI). Speaking at a think tank session at the PCJCCI Secretariat, Ghurki pointed out that Pakistan was the sixth largest extractor of marble and granite and possessed huge marble and granite reserves of around 350 million tons. PCJCCI Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif said China was interested in Pakistani marble and establishing joint ventures with marble exporters. He suggested the setting up of a marble city in the federal capital and establishment of more Common Facility and Training Centres in the country.
