Karachi second most polluted city in world
The air of the city continues to be unhealthy, as per the air quality index. Karachi was marked as the second most polluted city in the world, while Lahore was ranked first on the list.
According to the air quality index, the number of polluted particles in the atmosphere of Karachi was recorded at 182 particulate metres on Monday. Meanwhile, polluted particles in the air of Lahore were recorded at 212 particulate metres.
As per the classification, pollution from 151 to 200 levels is harmful to health, pollution from 201 to 300 levels is dangerously harmful, and more than 301 levels is hazardous pollution.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday issued a forecast of haze and mist on Wednesday.
AS per PMD, the port city witnessed a hot and humid day on Wednesday, with temperature at 36.2 degrees Celsius. Sea breezes are likely to remain suspended in the afternoon for the next few days.
According to the Early Warning Center (EWC) of PMD, the northwesterly winds of Balochistan are expected to blow during the next three days keeping the city hot and humid.
On Tuesday afternoon, the air humidity may be between 70 to 80 percent and on Wednesday 80 to 90 percent, due to which heat can be felt.
According to the EWC, haze is expected in the atmosphere on Wednesday, due to which the ight limit may be reduced.
The weather is likely to remain hot and dry in other districts of the province.
