50 shops, two CNG stations sealed

RDA official says operation against illegal housing schemes underway

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) carried out an operation against unauthorised and illegal commercial buildings, sealed 50 shops and two compressed natural gas (CNG) stations on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi.

According to RDA spokesman, the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) wing launched the grand operation against illegal housing schemes and unauthorised constructions.

He said that the LU&BC wing’s staff and others took part in the operation and sealed the shops and CNG stations for various violations. He said that the owners of the properties had violated approved plans/maps and violated the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021. The owners had constructed shops and CNG stations without approval and the no-objection certificates.

He said that action was being taken against illegal and unauthorised constructions and commercial activities without any discrimination. The spokesman said that orders have been issued to take solid steps to regularize all illegal residential cum commercial buildings on Adyala Road.The citizens had also been requested to remove encroachments otherwise strict action in accordance with the law would be taken against the rules violators, he said.

Meanwhile, well-known business leader and entrepreneur Umar Ashraf on Sunday said that a heavy bike motorcycle centre has been established in Rawalpindi to promote sports and recreational activities in the country, which would not only boost the motorcycle industry rather create employment opportunities for people.
