Following the announcement of construction of Central Business District (CBD Punjab) Main Boulevard and remodelling of the Kalma Chowk Underpass, an alternative traffic plan has been issued on Saturday.
The technical team of Punjab Central Business District Development Authority and City Traffic Police had a meeting, on Saturday to finalise the traffic diversion plan during the construction of CBD Boulevard and remodelling of Kalma Chowk Underpass.
The meeting was attended by the PCBDDA Executive Director Technical Riaz Hussain, PCBDDA Director Project Management Asif Iqbal and from Lahore Traffic Police SP Asif Sadiq Gulberg DSP Muneer Hashmi, Model Town DSP Rashid Hayat, Ichra DSP Azam Chohan and Defence DSP Akhlaq Ahmed.
The technical team of PCBDDA explained the diversion plan during the construction of the CBD Boulevard.
In the first phase of construction, one side of Main Boulevard will be opened for traffic coming from Barkat Market and going towards Liberty Market. Service Lane will be operational for traffic coming from Firdaus Market from Ali Zaib Road for Barkat Market and Ferozepur Road.
Traffic coming from Model Town going towards Liberty will be diverted from Gaddafi Stadium. A clean passage is also suggested in the plan for the residents of Falcon Society.
CBD Punjab technical executive director said “SP traffic has principally agreed with the traffic diversion plan with minor changes. “We will keep the people updated with the changes in the plan as there is any development. This mega project will be an amenity for the residents of Lahore,” he said.
The authority has ensured the safety, comfort and hassle-free travel for commuters during construction phases.
PCBDDA Executive Director Commercial Mohammed Omer in a recent event highlighted that the CBD Punjab has secured an investment of Rs58.89 billion in a short time span. He said the authority was working on a business model to use the barren government-owned land for wealth generation to raise capital for the development of Punjab.
