The song came out months after fans tagged the singer on the 16-year-old's cover of his song

We love a good collaboration between singers but it's even better when an established one uses his platform to promote young talent — that too, a fan! Singer Asim Azhar has been on a roll this year, releasing one hit track after another but nothing beats his latest, a mashup of his famous songs Jo Tu Na Mila and Habibi with Arshmaan Naeem.

Azhar discovered Naeem, a young fan and a viral internet sensation after his fans tagged him on a cover of Jo Tu Na Mila that Naeem had uploaded on his Instagram page. The Ghalat Fehmi crooner liked it so much, he announced to collaboration with the 16-year-old artist. “Talent is Talent. We only try to bring it forward. We shall meet soon,” Azhar had tweeted while announcing the collab.

Later, Azhar shared a clip of Naeem from June, singing one of his songs and the comments in which he had been tagged under the original video. The clip then transitioned to one of them together in a music studio, announcing their upcoming collaboration.

Almost a week after teasing the song, Azhar dropped the mashup on his YouTube channel, and it’s already a fan favourite! “This is the collaboration you wanted,” he wrote in the description of the video calling Naeem an “internet sensation.” The singer and fan’s mellow voices compliment each other beautifully and it seems like Naeem has learnt a lot from Azhar. The song is trending at number five in Pakistan on YouTube too.

Naeem has shared covers of multiple songs on his Instagram, including those of Atif Aslam’s, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s, and Qawwali maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s, alongside some Bollywood hits. We hope this is the first of many feats for Naeem —upwards and onwards, you rising star!
