ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday served notices to respondents in an appeal against the decision of Pakistan Information Commission (PIC) regarding provision of details to a citizen about recruitments in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the appeal filed by the election supervisor.

The chief justice asked the ECP lawyer what information the citizen had sought.

The ECP counsel said the applicant had requested for provision of details related to the appointment of officers in the ECP.

The chief justice questioned what it matters to ECP if it uploaded information related to the appointments on its website, adding people would have more access to the details related to the recruitment process.

The chief justice asked the lawyer to also keep in view Article 19A of the Constitution.

The court served notices to respondents and adjourned the hearing of the case till October 19.
