Twitch is testing a new feature allowing users to pin messages from their favourite streamer in the chatbox for all viewers. The Elevated Chat feature, will however be priced at the amount of time the message will stay highlighted.
The payment scheme is priced at $5 for 30 seconds and $10 for a minute. However, a minute and a half will cost $50, while two minutes would be $100.
YouTube has a similar feature for content creators, but for $100 pinned messages stay highlighted for an hour. The platform also adds markers at the top of the chatbox for each Super Chat, where clicking on them will direct viewers to the donor's message.
Twitch plans to place the Elevated Chats either at the top of the Chatbox or at the bottom of the video. The platform will only allow one pinned message at a time, directing viewers into a queue if multiple people pay for elevated chats.
The experimental feature will be available for four weeks, after which Twitch will examine user data to decide if Elevated Chats can be rolled out officially for more users.
