Alia Bhatt, who is currently expecting her first child, recently announced she is all set to launch a maternity line. Alia shared on Instagram on Friday that after she found out she was pregnant, she really struggled to find clothes that had her sense of style and were also comfortable at the same time. “I’m launching my own line of maternity wear. I don’t think anyone will ask why but let me tell you anyway,” Pinkvilla quoted her as saying.
She further explained that expecting mothers don’t know how they are going to feel or look during their pregnancy, and being unable to find the right thing to wear can be stressful. “It's not like I've bought maternity clothes before. But when I got down to it, I was overwhelmed. You don't know how you're going to look or feel over the next few months and let's be honest, not being able to find the right thing to wear can be stressful. Do I buy brands I already wear but in a bigger size? Should I raid Ranbir's wardrobe? And just because my body is changing doesn't mean my sense of style has to, right?” she wrote.
The mommy-to-be explained that her line of maternity wear started as a way to fill the gap in her existing wardrobe. She added how she started altering her existing jeans and designing shirts so she didn’t have to borrow Ranbir’s clothes.
“I started making my personal style more bump-friendly. I added elastic to my favourite jeans, designed shirts that I didn't have to share with my husband and wore flowy dresses so as to not invite any unwanted belly-touching. Comfort took priority over any 'airport looks’. What started off as me trying to fill a gap in my existing wardrobe, led to an entire maternity collection. And I can't wait to give you a sneak peek tomorrow!” added Alia. The star previously launched a kids’ wear brand called Ed-a-Mamma. She posts about the brand frequently on her social media.
In a recent chat with Bollywood Bubble, the couple revealed that they are preparing for the baby’s arrival. “We have done everything, the room is done, we have done all the preparations that are required for a child,” said Ranbir. Alia added, “My checklist is ready like I am foreseeing things, ‘If we have this etc’ but one can never be prepared for it. We take each day as it comes.”
Alia and Ranbir got married in April 2022 and announced their pregnancy in June 2022. Alia shared the pregnancy announcement on Instagram with a photo from the hospital. “Our baby… coming soon,” she wrote in the caption.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is currently basking in the success of her recently released film, Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva. She will next be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa along with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif. The actor also has Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani along with Ranveer Singh. Alia will also be making her Hollywood debut with the film, Heart Of Stone.
