Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Arshad Ayub Khan here on Friday directed speedy work on Monda Headwork and canals affected by the August 28 catastrophic floods to ensure provision of water for wheat sowing in the province.
The minister directed chief engineer, irrigation south to present detailed report regarding rehabilitation works on Monda Dam and irrigation canal on daily basis.
He further ordered complete rehabilitation works within 15 days and submit report with all technical details accordingly.
Presiding over a high-level meeting here on Friday which was attended by Secretary Irrigation, Muhammad Ayaz, Chief Engineer South Nasir Ghafoor and other officials concerned, the minister said that Monda Headwork was an important project and its completion on modern lines would help counter floods challenges in future.
The provincial minister was given detailed presentation about Monda Headwork’s reconstruction, Chesma Right Bank Lift Canal, Rawan Canal Tank and others irrigation projects. He also instructed completion of de-silting works on Tank Canal within stipulated time and ensure water’s availability for wheat sowing season in all canals.
