Bomber blows himself up; no casualties

Security beefed up in the district after the attack

MARDAN:

A suicide bomber blew himself up in Mardan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mardan Muhammad Ali Khan told journalists that the suicide bomber blew himself up in a deserted place near Chora police station and there was no casualty in the explosion.

He said that security had been beefed up in the district after the attack and they were investigating the attack from different aspects.

A police official told The Express Tribune that the police station was most probably the target of the bomber but he blew himself up by mistake before reaching his target.

“A CNIC has also been recovered from the site of the blast which belongs to the suicide bomber,” he said, adding that the recovery is really helpful in tracing the bomber and his perpetrators.

The powerful explosion was heard miles away and it caused widespread panic among the local residents

Three kidnapped

Three employees of an NGO have been kidnapped along with their vehicle in Dabara, Tank district on Friday.

Police said that these employees were working on the construction of 100 houses for the flood-victims in Tank and were traveling in their vehicle when intercepted and kidnapped.
