COAS inaugurates Chaklala cricket ground in Rawalpindi

Cricket ground will provide state-of-the-art sports facility to the youth of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, says ISPR

RAWALPINDI:

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa inaugurated the newly renovated Chaklala Cricket Ground, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

“The cricket ground was upgraded to provide state-of-the-art sports facility to cricket fans, especially to the youth of Rawalpindi and Islamabad,” added the ISPR.

“The ground will be available to students and cricket clubs of the twin cities to promote the game of cricket and provide a healthy sports environment.”

The army chief also appreciated the efforts of the Rawalpindi Corps in renovating the old cricket ground and providing an excellent cricketing facility to the city.

In an earlier visit, Gen Bajwa visited the Military College of Engineering (MCE) in Risalpur and appreciated engineers’ contributions during counter-terrorism operations.

He also visited the School of Armour and Mechanised Warfare (SA&MW) Nowshera and inaugurated a newly-built training complex for Tank VT4 which will provide a cutting-edge training system to train Armoured Corps officers and men on the newly inducted tanks.
