Sindh HEC funding hiked despite constraints: minister

Around 200 companies have set up their stalls at the job fair

Sindh Minister of Education and Culture, Syed Sardar Shah has said that despite many challenges, the province is facing, the grant for Higher Education Commission Sindh has been increased, while the monitoring and evaluation of universities has also been enhanced to improve the rating of universities.

He expressed these views on Tuesday while addressing a function after the inauguration of job fair "Career Connect 2022" organised by Higher Education Commission Sindh at Karachi Expo Centre.

HEC Chairman, Sindh, Dr. Tariq Rafi, Secretary Moin-ud-Din Siddiqui, heads of different universities, members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, heads of various companies and students participated in the event.

Around 200 companies have set up their stalls at the job fair, which aims at facilitating students and passing out graduates to access to various job opportunities existing in different industries.

Sardar Shah said that usually such job fairs are being organised in private universities but today the HEC Sindh has made an effort to organise a job fair to provide better opportunities to the students. The initiative to connect job-seekers with companies is highly commendable.

The minister said that the provincial government is taking steps to provide better job opportunities to educated youth. Speaking on the occasion, HEC Chariman, Dr. Tariq Rafi said that as many as 3,000 candidates will be able to get jobs in various companies easily through the job fair held today.

A large number of young people from different universities of Karachi participated in the one-day Career Connect 2022 Job Fair and submitted their CVs.
