QUETTA:

Panic and shock gripped the entire city after three sons of a renowned orthopedic surgeon Nisar Achakzai were brutally put to death when unidentified persons opened fire at their motorcar in Quetta’s Railways Society area.

All the three brothers were travelling in a motorcar and were on their way home after attending a wedding feast late at night.

The victims have been identified as Zarian Khan, Zarang Khan and Saidal Khan. The youngest of the three brothers was just 12-year-old.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Haq Umrani said that police reached the spot soon after the attack and the bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta.

He said that an investigation had been launched in the tragic incident and police was pursuing the case from different angles.

Parliamentary leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) in Balochistan Assembly, Asghar Khan Achakzai and others reached the hospital after the incident.

“This is a barbaric incident and the culprits need to be brought to justice for their brutality,” Achakzai said.

He urged police and the provincial government to ensure the arrest of the culprits behind the attack as soon as possible.

The incident prompted Balochistan Police Chief Abdul Khaliq Sheikh to take notice of the incident.

In a statement, IGP directed the police to submit a report in this regard and arrest the culprits behind the attack. Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove also condemned the incident and directed the police to arrest those responsible.

The last rites of the victims were offered in Murda Karez, Chaman. Thousands of people attended the funeral.

Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and Young Doctors Association (YDA) have hit out at the police for what they called their failure to protect the lives and property of the local residents.

In their separate statements, PMA and YDA made an appeal to the Chief Justice Balochistan High Court to take notice of the incident.

They warned that the doctors would go for a strike if the government failed to arrest the criminals behind the atrocity.

Police claimed that they had found important clues in the triple murder case and soon it will be shared with the media. They said that investigation was successfully underway.
