For all those obsessed with the never-ending drama surrounding the controversial school Las Encinas and its students Samuel, Guzman, Nadia, Carla, Cayetana, Lucrecia and Rebeca, there’s a desi version of high-profile relationship drama coming.

Let’s be honest, cringy or not, controversies sound 10x more dramatic in your native language. After the long five seasons of the original Spanish series, the streaming giant Netflix has now announced an official Indian adaptation of Elite called Class.

The news became public on Saturday when the streaming site unveiled a list of shows during its Tudum livestream, where Class caught everyone’s attention for its similarities to Elite.

The official synopsis claims the young adult show follows live events that unfold when two worlds collide, shaking up the relationships and lives of students hailing from high-profile families with dark secrets of their own. The trailer begins with a glimpse of two students at New Delhi’s upscale Hampton International School where, much like Elite, three new students from different backgrounds have entered, facing the challenges around the existing dynamics at the elite enclave.

Produced by Bodhitree Multimedia Limited, and directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, Class will feature Gurfateh Pirzada, Anjali Sivaraman, Ayesha Kanga, Chayan Chopra, Cyaawal Singh, Chintan Rach, Madhyama Segal, Moses Koul, Naina Bhan, Piyush Khati and Zeyn Shaw in leading roles.

While Class does not have a release date as of yet, for now, we can keep watching the Spanish series with its season 6 likely to release in 2023.
