Renowned Zimbabwean Islamic scholar Mufti Menk visited flood-hit areas in Pakistan to highlight the plight of the flood victims and raise funds. However, that’s not all that he spoke about during his visit to Pakistan. While on his way to the affected areas in Sindh, the scholar stopped at a chai dhaba and declared it the “number one” tea in the world.
On Monday, he uploaded a video on his Instagram of him enjoying tea at a stopover while travelling to Sindh. “MashaAllah we are having some super Madina tea on a highway in Pakistan. We stopped on the side at this beautiful place. It’s an amazing experience, lovely culture, amazing people, and this tea MashaAllah no.1,” he says in the clip.
Another video uploaded on his gram sees him with his face covered in a mask. “Undercover in Pakistan?” he captioned it while describing how the mask helped him enjoy the experience of sitting at a dhaba without being recognised by the public.
Tea aside, Menk’s Instagram grid is full of videos and images from his trip to Pakistan as he describes the catastrophic effects of floods as "unimaginable". He wrote, "Please do whatever you can with any reliable charity or partner for those affected. We will have to assist for the next few YEARS.”
The Islamic scholar, who has millions of followers on various social media platforms, said he visited parts of Sindh with just one intention “to reach out by delivering some aid and creating further awareness about the plight of the millions who've been affected by the devastating floods”.
He also sent his apologies and love to his followers in the country for not being able to go anywhere besides the flood-hit areas. “Please forgive me for not being able to entertain any unrelated meetings, visits or invitations. I made no exceptions. I love you all!” he added.
