KARACHI:

Credible media is a trusted partner and a strong pillar of support to help in a crackdown against quackery in the province, said Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) Director Anti-Quackery Syed Zeeshan A Shah.

He said that 1,693 inspection and enforcement visits to quackery clinics were made by the SHCC across the province between April and June.

During these raids, 191 clinics were sealed, and 235 were re-sealed due to non-compliance with the law.

Moreover, 470 legal warnings were issued to healthcare establishments to get them to comply with SHCC legal requirements, while 345 outlets were found to comply with the law.

'Our genuine media stakeholders have always highlighted the good efforts being done by our teams to reduce quackery', said Shah.

Referring to some unknown media houses publishing false news, Shah said that negative or false news is also being published by some non-registered media groups giving a bad name to established mainstream media. We should differentiate between credible and sensational media. The Directorate of Anti-Quackery has been effectively engaged with law enforcement agencies and is on one page when it comes to decisive strict actions against law offenders involved in quackery practices.
