PM Shehbaz arrives in New York to attend UNGA session

Premier will hold important bilateral meetings with world leaders on UNGA sidelines

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will reach New York from London on Monday (today) to represent Pakistan in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During his stay in New York, he will hold important bilateral meetings with the leaders of other countries, Radio Pakistan reported.

The premier will attend the reception of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres tomorrow (Tuesday) and will also meet French President Emmanuel Macron.

Besides meetings with the Austrian chancellor and Spanish president, PM Shehbaz will also hold a meeting with European Union President Council Charles Michael.

He will also participate in the Global Food Security Summit.

On Wednesday, the prime minister will meet Managing Director of International Monitory Fund Kristalina Georgieva and World Bank President David Mills.

Apart from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, PM Shehbaz will also hold a bilateral meeting with Iran's President Seyed Ibrahim Raisi. He will host a luncheon in honour of President Erdogan and his wife on Wednesday.

Other engagements of the premier include meetings with Malaysian Prime Minister Imail Sabri Yaaqob, UNGA president, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, the UN secretary-general and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.

The premier will also hold meetings with meet prime ministers of China, Japan and Luxembourg.

He will address the UNGA on Friday (Sep 23).

During his stay in the United States, PM Shehbaz will give interviews to various renowned US media outlets.
