Nude picture is morphed: Ranveer Singh defends himself against complainant

Actor appeared before Mumbai Police on allegation of his private parts visible in his shoot for Paper Magazine

Actor Ranveer Singh has claimed that someone has tampered with one of his photos while recording his statement in the nude photoshoot case. He mentioned that one of the images shared on social media – which was claimed to be a part of the actor’s shoot for New York-based Paper magazine – in which his private parts were allegedly visible, is morphed and does not belong to him.

It was based on the said photograph that the Mumbai Police had registered an FIR against Singh on charges of obscenity on July 26, reported The Indian Express. This particular photo was not part of the seven others uploaded by Singh on his Instagram account, the actor has claimed. In one of the shots, he was seen lying on a rug naked recreating Burt Reynold's famous snap.

The police have now sent the photograph to the forensic science laboratory to confirm if it has been morphed. If it turns out that the photograph has been morphed, Singh is likely to get a clean chit as the FIR was registered on the ground that his private parts were visible in one of the photographs, a source revealed.

An officer said, “In his statement, he has said that the seven photographs he posted on Instagram were not obscene and he was wearing underwear. He added that the photograph in which the complainant had alleged that his ‘private parts were visible’ was morphed and not part of the photoshoot. He provided us with all the photos taken during the photoshoot. The police team also checked his Instagram posts, which do not have the photograph that was given by the complainant.”

An FIR was registered against Singh on a complaint filed by an office-bearer of the NGO who had alleged that the actor hurt the sentiments of women with his nude photos. Mumbai police recorded his statement last month for two hours after the actor reached Chembur Police station on August 29. “We had asked the actor to come to the police station by August 30. He visited the police station on August 29 at 7:30 am and was present in the police station until 9:30 am,” said deputy commissioner of police, Krishna Kant Upadhyay. Police officials said the actor was “completely co-operative” with the investigators.
