Punjab Police has decided to include two women police officers in the Police Executive Board.
The board is the optimum decision and policy making body of the provincial matters of police. Top brass is the part of the board.
However, there were no women in the topmost ranking officers so the formation of the board has been lacking female officers on it. The incorporation of the officers on gender base rather than seniority base will be a unique and unusual decision.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar while chairing the board meeting at Central Police Office on Wednesday said that the women officers will participate as members in the upcoming board that the aim of this initiative is to benefit from the opinions and experiences of women officers in professional affairs and departmental decision-making.
He further said that women police officers and officials are a very important part of Punjab Police whose abilities will be fully utilised by providing them equal opportunities.
