LAHORE:

Punjab Assembly passed resolutions on Wednesday against ‘cruelty, physical and mental torture on PTI’s Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh and a ban on a TV channel.

Members from the treasury benches condemned the way in which the Sindh opposition leader was allegedly being treated.

They demanded that the federal and Sindh governments quash what they termed forged cases registered against Sheikh and lift the ban on the TV channel.

The resolution about the Sindh opposition leader was moved by PTI MPA Ahmed Khan Bhachar. It read that the house condemned cruelty with the Sindh Assembly opposition leader allegedly on the whim of what the mover called “the imported government”.

As the resolution was being read, the PML-N lawmakers continued creating ruckus to halt the procedure, but in vain. As the resolution was passed, the treasury lawmakers thumped the desks loudly.

Earlier, most questions scheduled for the day were disposed of owing to the absence of lawmakers from both the treasury and opposition benches.

Some questions were answered by the Minister for Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife, Syed Abbas Ali Shah.
