Ratta Amral police have booked a couple for allegedly defrauding a citizen and other people by promising them government jobs.
Police said that the couple allegedly defrauded around 48 people. The police registered a case and started raids to arrest the husband and wife, who have gone into hiding after allegedly cheating on people.
A citizen named Umar Farooq told the police that he applied for jobs in several government departments but failed to get any.
He said that his neighbour Rukhsana Naz, promised him a job in Attock court where she said her husband Zaheer worked as a reader with a sessions judge. He said that she asked him to arrange money and she would get him and his siblings government jobs in the court.
He said that after selling his mother's jewellery and other valuables, he gave her a total of Rs3.4 million to get government jobs for himself and his siblings.
He said that a few days back, the couple visited his home and gave him the appointment letter along with visiting cards of the judiciary officials and asked him to visit a superintendent named Dildar in Rawalpindi district courts to get his medical examination done.
He said that when he went to the Rawalpindi district courts with the appointment letter, the judicial official told him that the letter was bogus.
He said that the couple, residents of Fateh Jang, have gone into hiding after defrauding him and other people.
