KARACHI:

Another case of alleged early marriage has come to light. The Sindh High Court (SHC) has permitted the girl to go with her husband.

An application of the alleged child marriage of a girl was heard in the High Court. The girl’s father said that his daughter is around 15 years old. The girl was studying religious education. “My daughter was abducted,” the father stated. On the other hand, the girl in her statement denied that she was abducted.

The court permitted the girl to go with her husband. The court remarked that the girl wants to live with her husband and in-laws. The court further remarked that, as per Islamic law, a girl can live with her husband. As far as the child marriage is concerned, the girl’s father should refer to the relevant forum under the Child Restraint Marriage Act, 2013.

The court maintained, if the girl wants to meet her parents, the husband will not interfere. The court also directed to send copies of the orders to District Judge Khairpur. The court ordered that District and Sessions Judge Khairpur ensure that girl’s education continues. The court disposed of the petition.
