Nawabshah pivotal point for flood relief, says Faisal Edhi

Sindh Health Department has set up camps across the calamity hit districts to facilitate the displaced people, Sindh Minister for Health and Rain Emergency Focal Person Dr Azra Fazal Pechuhu said presiding over a meeting with Faisal Edhi at Zardari House in Nawabshah on Sunday.

Faisal Edhi said that Nawabshah has been made a pivotal point for extending help to the affected people of all districts of Sindh.

The minister commended the efforts of Edhi Foundation which is supplying ration to the rain and flood affected people of Sindh, particularly in Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Naushehro Feroze and Rajanpur in Punjab. She further said that ration shall also be distributed among the affectees of Larkana, Qambar, Sanghar, Matiari, and Mirpurkhas.

Faisal Edhi declared that the recent rains and floods is a "great calamity" which has forced thousands of affected families to migrate from their ancestral villages. These families urgently need food and shelter, he said and appealed to philanthropists to step forward and help the humanity in need.

As per the minister, Sindh Health Department has set up camps across the calamity hit districts to facilitate the displaced people.

All District Health Officers (DHOs) and deputy commissioners (DCs) have coordinated their efforts to bring relief and medical assistance

to the people who have been affected by the monsoon flooding, officials said on Sunday.

Many health camps have been set up in school buildings, besides mobile health camps are reaching areas where communities are cut off due to floods.

The health camps are providing essential medicine, vaccines, obstetrics and gynecology services, dengue, diarrhea, gastro and cholera treatments, nutrition supplements and fogging and fumigation services to prevent mosquito and vector borne diseases.
