PAKPATTAN:

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her uncles, police said.

They registered a case and started searching for the suspects.

According to police report, Muhammad Amjad, a resident of Makkah Town, had gone out of the house with his wife, leaving his daughter, Tehreem Kanwal, 8, in the house along with her brother Saeed.

In the meanwhile, his brothers-in-law, Sohail, Shahbaz and others, arrived at Amjad’s house and shot and seriously injured Tehreem.

The injured girl was immediately shifted to the District Hospital, Pakpattan, from where she was taken to Sahiwal Hospital owing to her critical condition.

However, she died of her injuries, the report said.

Police said the reason behind the enmity was that Shumaila Parveen, the mother of the victim, had married Muhammad Amjad, allegedly against the will of her brothers.

Police said that Shumaila Parveen’s brother carried the grudge of their sister’s disregarding their opposition to her marrying Muhammad Amjad.

This continuously bothered the suspects who off and on threatened the victim’s family of dire consequences.

Sadar Police have registered a case on the complaint of the father of the victim and started searching for the suspects.
