LAHORE:

The government failed in showing required number of its legislators in the Punjab Assembly to run the assembly business after the PML-N pointed out quorum in protest against one of its lawmakers not being given the opportunity to speak on a point of order.

The House started with laps of one hour and nineteen minutes under chair of panel of chairmen Mian Muhammad Shafi with a thin presence of PTI’s lawmakers in assembly chambers.

As the proceedings started, PML-N’s Khalil Tahir Sindhu stood up and sought point of order for speaking to which Mian Shafi replied that there were questions relating to “Housing, urban development and public health engineering department” on agenda “so we should first entertain them then you will be given the opportunity to speak”.

Later two more PML-N MPAs stood up seeking point of order.

As PML-N MPA Sindhu observed that he was not being given the chance to speak he finally pointed out the quorum issue.

Following the thin number of government’s legislators, the panel of chairmen first ordered starting of ringing of bells for five minutes and then adjourned the House for August 24 at 4pm.
