The cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to act against the group involved in embezzling thousands of rupees from children by tempting them with prizes for competing in online gaming competitions.
This group announces different gaming competitions with prizes for winners and asks children to pay Rs6,000 to Rs8,000 for registering in these contests. They play the said online games with these children and then use different fake accounts for participation in competitions.
After embezzling money from the kids through mobile wallet, tempting them with the opportunity of winning more money in the competitions, they close the accounts used to communicate with the victims.
Many children have been robbed of thousands of rupees by these individuals.
FIA officials say that under the Cybercrime Act, action will be taken against anyone who cheats innocent people or collects money fraudulently. They said that action is being taken against those involved in online fraud.
The officials cautioned parents to monitor their children’s online activities to protect them from trouble.
