Coordinated steps against human trafficking urged

Coordination between departments pivotal to curbing trafficking, bonded labour: SDCG Sialkot

Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Sialkot Syeda Amina Maududi stressed the need for coordinated efforts to eliminate human trafficking and bonded labour in the district.

Addressing a meeting of district level anti-human trafficking and anti-bonded labour monitoring committee on Sunday, she said that representatives of the labour, environment, education, FIA, social welfare, child protection bureau, police, public prosecution departments and social organisations have to cooperate in order to make the district level anti-human trafficking and anti-bonded labor monitoring committee effective.

The ADCG said that the committee aimed to eliminate human trafficking and forced labour, adding that an awareness campaign should be launched in the district to warn citizens about going abroad through illegal means and forced labour.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Labour Muhammad Tayyab Wirk, DEO Elementary Education Atta Elahi, committee members and social leaders Mirza Abdul Shakoor, Sadaf Khan, Nayyar Abbas, Deputy Director Social Welfare Sharif Ghuman, President Brick Kiln Association Mian Ikram, DO Literacy Asifa Akram, Assistant Director Public Prosecution Rana Jawad, In-charge Security Branch Saeed Nazir and Law Officer Muhammad Boota.
