KARACHI:

An anti-encroachment court on Saturday adjourned the hearing on the bail application of Haleem Adil Sheikh, the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, due to the absence of Public Prosecutor.

The court took up Haleem's post-arrest bail application on Saturday, but the Public Prosecutor did not appear "due to illness". The court accepted the Public Prosecutor's application and adjourned the hearing till August 22.

"The Sindh government is using every possible tactic to harass and torture our members and workers," said PTI MPA Raja Azhar while speaking to the media outside the court. "Murderers roam free in Sindh, but Haleem Adil Sheikh, who became the voice of the oppressed people of Sindh, is being victimized," he added.

Azhar alleged that Haleem has been frequently implicated in fabricated cases by the Sindh government. "The Sindh government has imprisoned Haleem but it would never be able to silence him," he added.

Azhar further said that the Sindh government should not cross all limits in victimizing its political opponents because what goes round comes round.
