The district administration Hyderabad has issued a rain alert as the city is expected to receive around 200 millimeter rain based on the forecast of Pakistan Meteorological department.
The traders have been directed to close their businesses by 3 pm for two days on August 18 and 19.
Another spell of torrential downpour began to lash the city on Wednesday evening. The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company claimed 35 feeders were shut down for safety reasons but the complaints about the outages suggested a far wider blackout.
Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro has appealed to the citizens to avoid going out of their homes unnecessarily.
He has also asked the traders to place sandbags outside their shops in order to prevent losses caused by the urban flooding.
The DC has also directed the staff of Water and Sanitation Agency and other concerned departments to remain on high alert in the field.
He asked them to ensure that the drainage pumping stations worked round the clock.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) a monsoon low-pressure area lies over eastern Sindh and adjoining Rajasthan in India.
