Mehdi Shah appointed G-B governor

ISLAMABAD:

President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday approved the appointment of Syed Mehdi Shah as the new governor of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

The president gave the approval on the advice of the prime minister in line with Section 33(3) of the Gilgit Baltistan Order 2018.

Shah will replace Raja Jalal Hussain, who resigned on June 24, 2022. 

In 2009, Shah was elected as the first Chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He has also served as the president of Gilgit-Baltistan chapter of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
