
At least six persons were arrested after a video of armed men setting a house on fire and illegally occupying land in the Ghazi area of Haripur went viral on social media.
Police also seized weapons, cars and motorcycles from the accused and registered a case against them.
The District Police Officer (DPO) Haripur took notice of the incident, he directed Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ghazi and Station House Officer (SHO) Ghazi to register a case at the earliest and arrest the culprits.
Ghazi police arrested the suspects namely Khan Daraz Khanbaz, Mukhtiar Ahmed Khan Daraz, Yasir Ali Haider Zaman, Jibran and Usman Aurangzeb and Dilawar Multan Khan. Police registered a case against the accused.
Ghazi Police Station House Officer Munir Khan said that the arrests were made after the police conducted raids against land mafia members. He said that both male and female police officials took part in the operation.
He said that Raja Khan Daraz, the leader of the land mafia, was also among those arrested. He said that the police seeking extended custody of the suspects. A huge stash of arms and ammunition used in the incident was also discovered and confiscated during the raid, he said.
