Several cattle die of lumpy skin disease

Lumpy skin disease has spread across the Haripur district and has resulted in the death of several animals. Since the vaccine in the district had run out, several cattle were infected.

Considering the situation, District Officer Livestock and Dairy Department had requested the provincial Livestock Department to supply the vaccine on an urgent basis.

On the other hand, the residents of Haripur and surrounding areas have demanded Deputy Commissioner (DC), DHO Haripur, and Tehsil Chairman Samiullah Khan to relocate cattle farms. They fear that there is a serious risk of disease spreading from these cattle farms.

The residents stated that these cattle farm lacked basic hygiene due to which the vicinity has begun to stink.

Therefore, the citizens have appealed that these cattle farms must be relocated and these areas should be disinfected properly to prevent the further spread of lumpy skin disease.

One of the residents of the area, Haji Zulfikar said that dozens of animals who had died of lumpy disease were thrown in open near Dotal Bridge, Panian Payan. As a result, a foul smell has spread in the area.
