Three years after signing up to spend the rest of their lives together, love birds Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain have signed up to work on a project. The actors are gearing up to star in serial Aik Thi Laila, a murder-mystery helmed by Hussain, who will star opposite his wife.

As the name suggests, the show will follow a girl named Laila, who goes missing. And instead of catching the culprit behind her disappearance, many including her ex-fiancé and the police begin to character assassinate her by accusing her of eloping. The same people become suspects in the case of her disappearance.

The story goes on to unravel what really happened to Laila, and how she had to go through a long route of betrayals. The drama will highlight how it is easier for society to point fingers at women as opposed to providing them safety. For it is only after Laila is recovered, that she shames the suspects turning a blind eye to their own faults.

The serial promises a wide range of emotions and a story worth telling amidst cases of disappearance in the country, much like the Dua Zehra case.

On Thursday, the Suno Chanda actor took to Instagram to repost a behind the scenes moment from the show. She wrote, “FINALLY!” in the caption of the image that sees her sitting next to the Badshah Begum actor, peaking from behind a clapperboard.

Channelling his filmy Bollywood avatar, Hussain captioned his post writing, “First time directing this superstar. Kuch kuch hota hai anjali, tum nahi samjhogi.”

Just one look at actors’ Instagram accounts and you’ll know the pair has been eagerly waiting to test out their dynamics on screen. The post also revealed that the serial will be airing on Express Entertainment “soon.”

Assuming from the tags on the said post and the many selfies floating around, Aik Thi Laila, produced by Hina Amaan, will also feature Faysal Quraishi, Gul-e-Rana, Hasan Ahmed, Nayyar Ejaz, Faiza Iftikhar and Fareeha Jabeen.
