BUNER:

Police on Thursday conducted a search and strike operation in the surrounding areas of Elam mountain range in Buner district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The operation was conducted as a precautionary measure as rumors gripped the region that militants have returned to the mountains in Dir Upper, Dir Lower and adjacent Swat.

“The operation was conducted in Shakar Ganj Baba, Poland and Malik Pura Mera village during which all the mountains and villages were searched and nothing was found suspicious,” said an official of police while talking to The Express Tribune.

Talking on the occasion District Police Officer (DPO) Abdur Rashid said that no one will be allowed to take law into his own hand across Buner. He said that such operations will be carried out regularly in order to make the district free of troublemakers.

He requested the local population to fully cooperate with the police and district administration and inform them if they spot something suspicious.
