Sindh collects Rs8.9b tax in July

Major chunk of revenue collected through infrastructure taxes amounting to nearly Rs7.8 billion

Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has released the details of the collection of taxes in July.

In the first month of the current financial year, the provincial government collected more than Rs8.9 billion worth of taxes and duties.

This was informed in a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department Mukesh Kumar Chawla. Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Atif Rehman Khan, Director Generals Aurangzeb Panhoor, Iqbal Ahmed Leghari and other officers were also present at the meeting.

The meeting was informed that Rs7.8 billion worth of infrastructure cess was collected during the period in addition to Rs0.63 billion worth of motor vehicle tax, Rs0.016 million professional tax and Rs0.941 million in the form of cotton fee.

The meeting was further informed that 0.117 million rupees tax was collected in the form of property tax. While addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that the overall situation of tax collection has been satisfactory. However, he directed the officers to speed up their efforts in the collection of the taxes
