Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashdi has said the government was trying to activate the under-construction child block in Gangaram Hospital for the public as soon as possible.
She expressed these views while chairing an important meeting of the Steering Committee for Mother and Child Block at Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan, Special Secretary Muhammad Usman, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Gangaram Hospital MS Dr Athar, Dr Salma, Dr Sophia, Dr Shamsa, Dr Imran Waheed, Dr Taiba, Dr Irfan, Children's Hospital MD Dr Muhammad Saleem and Sheikh Ijaz were present in the meeting.
Dr Yasmin Rashid reviewed the on-going progress of the under-construction Child Block in Gangaram Hospital during the meeting. The C&W and Sheikh Ijaz gave a briefing to Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid during the meeting.
The officers concerned have been instructed to activate the mother and child block without delay.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Zalhi has directed to complete the under-construction mother and child block in Gangaram Hospital. This mother and child block will be a model for all other hospitals.
Gangaram Hospital's mother and child block aims to provide international level treatment for mother and child.
Departments are being established in the mother and child block according to the recommendations and suggestions of the expert members included in the steering committee.
“Modern machinery is being purchased for the treatment of patients in the mother and child block,” the minister said.
“With the increase of population in Punjab, governments in the past never ever thought of building new government hospitals," he said.
