Police apprehended two members of a gang in Bilal Colony.
The residents of the Central District area are worried due to the increasing incidents of crime in the area.
The residents believe that they are not safe even within the premises of their houses as the accused would enter a house if its door is open, hostage family members, and steal money, gold jewellery, and other valuable items. Bilal Colony police received information on August 6 that two of the suspects of the gang were roaming in the area. The police arrested the two suspects, identified as Muhammad Ali and Faraz during the raid. According to the police, gold jewellery, 13 stolen mobile phones, prize bonds, and cash were recovered from their house upon their identification.
The accused have confessed before the police about their involvement in more than 50 robbery incidents and several street crimes.
The suspects confessed that they had committed crimes in the Central District. The police conducted raids to arrest the other members of the gang.
Dozen arrested
Korangi Police arrested 12 accused, including 10 gamblers, a drug peddler and a gutka supplier from different areas of district Korangi. According to police officials, Landhi division police arrested 10, including gambling den operators and gamblers and recovered cash, playing cards, mobile phones and other material used in gambling. While Shah Faisal division police, in separate actions, arrested two accused, including a drug peddler and a gutka supplier. The police recovered over 3kg of hashish from the possession of a drug peddler identified as Muhammad Dawood. About 1400 packets of Indian gutka, 100 packets of foreign brand cigarettes, over 91kg gutka and other stuff. Cases against all arrested have been registered, and further investigations have been initiate.
