SSWMB starts insecticide spray

Swarms of flies, mosquitos and other insects have descended on city

Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) Managing Director (MD) Zubair Ahmad Channa has directed the officials of the sanitation body to start a disinfectant spray campaign to rid the metropolis of the swarms of flies, mosquitos and other insects that have descended on city since Eidul Azha and the monsoon season.

Civic authorities have racked up arrangements for the smooth passage of the mourning processions of Muharram.

Sewage and rainwater still stagnates at many roads, streets and intersections, which can cause a serious issue when thousands of mourners will march in the city from Muharram 7 to 10.

In this regard while KMC Administrator Murtaza Wahab ordered removal of the debris of Green Line Bus project from MA Jinnah Road.

The campaign will continue for three to four days. In particular, routes of the Muharram procession, and around the congregations and imambargahs have been cleaned, and disinfectants spray has been carried out. The spray campaign has been going on for 2 days in UCs of Jamshed zone, district east. These editions will also be sprayed in Gulshan zone on Saturday and in Gulzar Hijri on Monday. The disinfectant spray will start at night in Sadar zone and Lyari Zone UCs in district south

Meanwhile, lime spraying and other measures are also underway to rid the city of mosquitoes and flies.
