Muharram, Independence Day, local govt elections lined up

Pakistan Rangers Sindh DG General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhary chaired a meeting to review the arrangements to maintain peace and order in the city, especially during Muharram, Independence Day celebrations and the upcpming local government elections.

Additional Commissioner Karachi, Additional IG Karachi, Joint DG IB, DG IB (Special Branch, East, West, South, CTD, Traffic) police, Rangers and senior officers of sensitive institutions attended the meeting.

Measures finalised and taken to ensure security during Ashura processions, Independence Day and local government elections across the province were reviewed while the meeting approved the action plan in this regard.

It was decided in the meeting that joint flag march and snap-checking by Rangers and police during Muharram will be made more effective so that the security of the gatherings of all schools of thought, majalis and the entrances and exits of processions is ensured.
