A nine-year-old girl died while three were buried under the debris when the roof of her house caved in during heavy downpour in Jalalpur Sharif, a suburb of Pindi Dadan Khan.
Heavy rains wreaked havoc across the Jhelum tehsil. Police said that two roofs of a man Naveed's house collapsed and his daughter died.
The roof of another man a man named Nasir also collapsed on the same day, but survived miraculously.
Meanwhile, a teenage boy drowned in the river during rains on Monday. Police said that he was identified as Hasan Ali and he slipped while taking a bath in the river. Locals fished out his body and handed it over to the family.
Moreover, roads and streets of Jhelum city continued to present a view of dirty drains as the sewer are completely choked. After two hours of rain, the low-laying areas of the city became inundated.
The drains were blocked and after the rainwater accumulated and the entire city turned into a pool of dirty water.
Residents told The Express Tribune that it had become totally impossible for them to get out of their houses. They added that the poor situation in the city is a question mark of the performance of the city administration.
"We don’t know where they spend the millions of rupees of budget," they asked.
"Due to the incompetence and alleged corruption of the municipal committee, the city has turned into a pile of garbage, they said.
The citizens said that the officials concerned should take notice of the situation and get the nullahs and roads cleaned to provide relief to the masses.
