KURIANWALA:

Police arrested a man who allegedly attempted to rape his sister-in-law.

Ali Raza, a resident of Yasrab Colony, lodged a complaint with the police saying that his uncle had passed away on July 30, and all the family members were busy in his funeral rites.

On July 31, around seven o'clock in the morning, he, along with other family members, except his 22-year-old wife, went to the deceased's home.

The complainant said that his brother-in-law, Mohammad Owais, resident of 225 RB, Haq Bahu Town, knew that his (Ali Raza’s) wife had been alone in the house.

His brother-in-law allegedly decided to take advantage of this opportunity and went to his home with an excuse that he was not in good health and asked his wife to provide him with a glass of water, but when his wife went back into the room with the glass of water, his brother-in-law allegedly tried to rape her, but she resisted and during the scuffle, his brother-in-law ripped off his wife's clothes.

Meanwhile, Mehmood Alam and Hafiz Abdul Samad reached the spot on hearing his wife's screams and caught Owais and handed him over to the police.

The police registered a case under Sections 376 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code and sent the accused behind bars.
