ECP begins vote registration

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) started the task of door-to-door verification of electoral rolls on Monday.

The verification of computerised electoral rolls based on the database of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) will ensure transparency in the election process.

The verification survey will continue till September 30, after which Nadra will publish its draft list in December this year.

People will be asked to pinpoint anomalies, if any, in the electoral rolls.

The final voters list will be published in early 2012 with the ECP expecting the number of registered voters to be more than 80 million.
