Chinese envoy also calls on army chief

Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa (COAS) and US Central Command General Michael Erik Kurilla on Friday exchanged views on mutual interests, including regional stability, defence and security cooperation, the military’s media wing said.

During a conversation held on the phone, the COAS said that Pakistan values its relations with the US and earnestly looked forward to "enhancing mutually beneficial multi-domain ties based on common interests," according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Both reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral relations in all fields, the statement added.

As for his part, Gen Michael Erik Kurilla acknowledged the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability.

He pledged to play his role in further improving cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

Meeting with Chinese envoy

Separately, Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ and held meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest, defence collaboration, progress on CPEC and regional security in detail, the ISPR said.

The COAS said that Pakistan valued China's role in global and regional affairs and we look forward to enhancing our strategic partnership. He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to cooperating with its international partners for peace and stability in the region.

The Chinese dignitary thanked the COAS for special measures taken to the provide a safe and secure environment for Chinese personnel employed on various projects in Pakistan and for efforts toward regional stability.

He also assured to play his role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

Sabiha Jameel | 2 years ago | Reply As an independent nation should we discuss our matters of security with nations oceans apart from us It may be worthwhile to reiterate the worth of keeping good relations with all friendly nations on equal grounds but making them conditional on certain terms or demands is totally unsolicited. Aren t we tasking extra by putting our army to deal with the foreign affairs of the country
