Imran asks Elahi to restore PTI’s welfare schemes

Prevailing political situation of the country and matters of mutual interest came under discussion

Former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday directed Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to immediately restore all the social welfare programmes initiated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regime, including the health insurance card, shelter homes, and Langarkhanas, etc.

While speaking to the chief minister via a video link, Imran lamented that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led coalition government suspended all public welfare scheme. Chief Minister Elahi said that the provincial government would swiftly move forward on these programmes.

Former federal minister Moonis Elahi, Dr Shahbaz Gill, and senior officials were present in the meeting. During the meeting, the prevailing political situation of the country and matters of mutual interest came under discussion.

Earlier, Khan was scheduled to visit Lahore but he had to cancel his visit at the eleventh hour owing to poor weather conditions.

He had reached airport when he came to know that flight could not take-off from Islamabad owing to unfavourable weather conditions and he had to return home.
