Police say robbers entered mosque under pretext of offering prayers

Three armed robbers looted a Pesh Imam of a local mosque at gunpoint in Taqwa Town within the Rawat police jurisdiction.

Imam of the mosque, Safdar Hussain, who also performs duty as a watchman in Taqwa Town Bagamiana, told the police that the armed robbers entered the mosque under the pretext of offering prayers and stole cash of Rs9,500 and a mobile phone and the ID card from him.

He told the police that the armed robbers also asked him to be their accomplice and informer in looting houses in his area. He further said that the robbers told him that they will equally distribute whatever they would steal from the people’s homes.

The complainant told the police that the robbers left the mosque after telling him that they would come back after two days.

He said that they also threatened him with dire consequences if he told anyone about the incident. The police registered a case and started an investigation.
