Hyderabad traders demand relief
Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry President Muhammad Altaf Memon has said that given the damage caused by the recent rains, the city should be declared a calamity-hit area. Muhammad Altaf Memon said in a statement that several areas of the city were flooded due to the recent rains, which has caused a financial loss on a large scale.
During the rains, the sewage water entered all the business centres, and property worth billions of rupees were damaged immensely, causing grave concern to the business community, Memon said. He added that an emergency should be imposed in the city to ensure the safety of life and property of the citizens.
Altaf Memon demanded that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah visit Sindh, including Hyderabad and assess the damage caused by the recent rains.
In Hyderabad, low-lying localities were partially submerged. Although the PMD recorded 69mm rain, but Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro claimed around 100mm rainfall in the district during the last 24 hours. At least one incident of roof collapse was reported in the Saddar area, but no one was injured.
