Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Khurram Sher Zaman and Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Eng Hafiz Naeemur Rehman refused to comment on the Election Commission of Pakistan decision to cancel the local government polls scheduled to be held on July 24.
ECP took the decision on the plea of PPP and MQM-P, and the reservations proved right. However, the opposition leaders who had held press conferences and termed postponement of LG polls a conspiracy refused to comment when contacted by The Express Tribune.
The torrential rain started in Karachi on Sunday from 10 am and continued till late at night. Against this background, the Election Commission’s decision to postpone the local bodies elections in the second phase of Sindh on July 24 proved correct.
