KARACHI:

Police have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in a robbery at a LPG cylinder shop in the city earlier this month.

Kashan, along with his accomplices, had robbed the shop at gunpoint on July 14 and managed to evade a chase by Sir Syed police while firing at them. The police had tried to engage them but they fled while leaving behind their firearms.

Another two suspects, Maqsood, alias Rameez, and Sadiq, were also arrested on the identification of Kashan.

During investigation, Kashan gave up the names of his two accomplices Adeel, alias Janati, and Syed Rehan Haider Naqvi, who was injured in the fire exchange with the police. Three handguns, a stolen motorcycle, and snatched mobile phones were also recovered from them.

All the suspects are habitual criminals who have served jail terms, police said. During interrogation, they confessed to committing several robberies and street crimes in Central and East Districts. Additionally, police have also obtained the CCTV footage of the robbery incident in which Kashan and his other accomplices are clearly identifiable.

In another incident, the SITE area police have claimed that they arrested a suspect between Friday and Saturday night in an encounter close to Al Habib Restaurant on Superhighway.

The suspect, identified as Tariq, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. A weapon has been recovered from him, while his accomplices escaped during the encounter.

In a third incident, Shah Latif Town police arrested an accused after he was injured in an exchange of fire with police near Goth Dad Muhammad. His accomplices managed to flee from the spot.
