KARACHI:

No concrete progress could be made in the case of the child murdered after being abducted from a private hospital in Gulberg.

In the month of April, two-day-old baby Ahmed Aslam was kidnapped from a private hospital in the Gulberg area. A nurse, her sister and a drug addict involved in the kidnapping were arrested. The two sisters had told the police that they had given the child to a man near the Ayesha Manzil flyover and asked him to take the child to the police station after giving him some money. After several days of hard struggle, the police arrested the drug addict, Bilal, who told the police that the child he was given was already dead, whom he buried in the cemetery behind Café Pyala.

The police exhumed the child's grave on the court order and took samples for DNA testing.
