Health and district authorities have expedited the anti-dengue campaign after 14 dengue positive cases surfaced in the Rawalpindi region in two days.
The authorities have filed 47 FIRs in two days for violation of dengue SOPs. They have ramped up a plan to focus on 9,476 hotspots for eradicating dengue larvae.
Dengue larvae had previously been confirmed in 609 houses and 93 open spots. The health department has filed 30 FIRs for violations of dengue SOPs in Potohar Town, four in Taxila, three in Gujar Khan and six in Rawalpindi Cantonment while the RDA has lodged one FIR and four by the environmental department.
During the drive, three buildings were sealed, four were challaned and Rs50,000 fines were imposed. Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq visited Union Council Chak Jalal Din, where District Health Officer Dr Naveed told him that focus action against dengue had been launched in the union council after two dengue positive cases surfaced there and dengue larvae were found in a large number. The Rawalpindi deputy commissioner said that no negligence would be tolerated during the anti-dengue campaign.
